Michael's Bio
Michael James Cuccione was born in Burnaby, British Columbia on January 5th, 1985. He was the middle child of Gloria and Domenic Cuccione. They also had a daughter, Sophia, who was born in 1982. Their youngest son Steven was born in 1988. Michael's family is a very religious, roman-catholic family. Michael was half Canadian and half Italian.

Michael was a very talented child. He could sing, dance and act very well and always had call-backs for something. He completed modelling assignments and was frequently asked to sing at public performances. At karaoke, Michael loved to sing Whitney Houston's "One moment in time". And even more, like he had won trophies for his dancing and only wrote A's and B's in school.

On 25th July 1994 Michael was diagnosed with hodgkin's disease. This would change his whole life. Michael underwent chemotherapy treatments, a bone marrow transplant and suffered. But he was brave. Vitamins and herbs helped his body and he survived cancer two times. Michael decided to dedicate his life to finding a cure for cancer. He produced a CD of his songs to donate proceeds to cancer research, started a foundation and in 1998 he published his book "There are survivors" which he had written with his grandmother. It told his story, from his first diagnosis of cancer until his 13th birthday. It described Michael's feelings and suffering while undergoing treatments and was about his friends he met while he was in hospital. There is one chapter dedicated to Michael's friend Melinda who died of cancer. Michael appeared on Baywatch portraying Charlie Hays who died of cancer. And he shared his story with people from all over the world. Michael was an exceptional child and inspired thousands of people in the USA and Canada. He was also blessed by Pope John Paul II following a mass on 16th September 1998.

In 1999, Michael played "QT" in MTV's hit movie "2gether", which was actually only thought as a boygroup take-off. But it was such a big hit that it got its own TV series. Michael was pleased about that cos through 2gether people all over the world would get to know him and he could tell everybody about his dream of finding a cure for cancer. The TV series was so successful that 2gether even released 2 singles and an album and became an opening act for Britney Spears on one of her tours. They had a lot of fans in the USA and Canada and the movie and TV series were soon aired in other countries as well.

On 13th January 2001, Michael died of lung failure in B.C.'s Children's hospital in Vancouver. His memorial service was held on 17th January 2001 and he is now buried at 4000 Imperial St., Burnaby, BC V5J 1A4, Canada. Michael will never be forgotten. Rest in peace.
